Military Doctrine Department

​​​​​​​​The Department of Military Doctrine consists of the following academic chairs related to the main combat functions
  • Maneuver;
  • Logistics Support;
  • Information Support;
  • Command, Control and Information Activities;
  • Military History.
The Department conducts basic training courses for all officers and advanced training courses for staff officers, company/squadron commanders and battalion/group commanders.

It also contributes to the development of learning paths, curricula and training activities and organises workshops and exercises for all residential courses. It also supports the General Staff of the Italian Army and the Army Training, Specialisation and Doctrine Command in their doctrine drafting efforts, through editors and authors of military publications.

Head of the Doctrine Department
The Head of the Doctrine Department is the senior faculty member of the Command and Control Academic Chair. The Head reports directly to the Head of Faculty and is also the Head of Department. In particular, he/she is responsible for
  • Translating the macro learning objectives developed by the Head of Department into specific objectives to be assigned to each teacher;
  • Coordinating, designing and scheduling the syllabi of the disciplines under the department’s responsibility within the framework of interdisciplinary modules;
  • Harmonising the curricula of the interdisciplinary modules with the other departments;
  • Drawing up, within the scope of his/her functions, the lessons learnt from the development of interdisciplinary modules; ensuring that the objectives set for specialised teaching are consistent with the requirements of the Departments/Operational Commands;
  • Carrying out a multidisciplinary assessment of the student’s aptitudes, skills and learning performance in the context of the subjects covered in the courses managed by the department and prepare an individual technical report;
  • Carrying out teaching activities.
