Overcoming the enemy resistance and the difficulties of a territory organized at defence, the "Aosta" Battalion climbed the cliffs of Vodice taking possession on the quota 652, where it resisted tenaciously without ceding to bombardment, counterattacks and difficulties (Vodice, 18th – 21st May 1917). In the final battle, showing heroic valour, spirit of sacrifice and the determination of the Alpines of Italy, it consecrated to the victory and the glory of the Homeland its Alpines that were decimated. In twelve months of Russian campaign, the Battalion of alpine skiers gave proof of extraordinary valour and spirit of sacrifice; it was unshakeable in the defence and impetuous in the offensive, it has always reached its aims. In the great winter offensive in Russia, it wrote pages of glory in its history. It supported the imposing masses of infantry, supported by armoured units that crushed the resistance to the front; it carried out an active and intrepid offensive until when the reinforcements arrived, permitting a truce after two weeks of conflict. Surrounded by infantry and armoured forces, with a few survivors, it supported a desperate fight with valour and sacrifice. Later it continued the march along the snowy valley, it overcame the obstacles and it reached the allied lines. Tenacity, courage and impulse pushed the "Intra" and "Val D'Orco" Battalions to the quota 2163, to the east of Monte Nero, competing with the enemy until when the other units arrived to help it in the conquest (19th – 21st July 1915). (To the "Intra" and "Val d'Orco" Battalions).

The "Aosta" Battalion attacked with audacity and enthusiasm the enemy trenches where it resisted to a violent counterattack for more than one hour. (Alpe di Cosmagnog, 10th September 1916). It reaffirmed its extraordinary military qualities conquering and maintaining positions (Alpe di Cosmagnon, 9th – 12th October 1916). Designated to defend an important Passage, it drove back with tenacity and valour the attack of the Abyssinian forces led by the Emperor. During thirteen hours of violent battle, decisive for the fate of the campaign, it reaffirmed in African territory the same achievements of the Great War. Mecan Passage, 31st May 1936. For three month, in a particularly fragile situation, in spite of the rigid winter, it has maintained with spirit of sacrifice and unshakeable faith the control on a large front in high mountain, contended with enemy forces. Present everywhere, courageous in the blizzard of the mountain and of the fire, it resisted with tenacity and valour, stopping the enemy attacks and crushing its formation. So it demonstrated that courage is more valuable than numbers and weapons. Greek Front, 10th January – 23rd April 1941. (To the "Monte Cervino" Battalion).

On 8th September 1943, far from its Homeland, in spite of the request by the German forces to lay down the arms, it deployed against them and started a partisan battle fighting for three months aware of the risk and sacrifice. Example of valour and glory. Montenegro – Sangiaccato – Serbia, Spetember – October – November 1943. (To the "Ivrea" Battalion).

Composed of elements of the "Taurinense" Alpine Division, that after the armistice could reach the region of Puglia from the Adriatic Ports of the Balkans, it participated in the War of liberation reaffirming the intrepid temperament of the people of the mountain. It gave example of perfect fusion between competence, valour and fortune: first on Monte Marrone, climbed in spite of the precipitous side and heroically defended; later on the quota 363 of Valle Idice, taken from the German enemy in Italy. Campaign of liberation, 18th March 1944 – 8th May 1945. (To the "Piemonte" Battalion).

In the attack of advanced positions, calm and organized in spite of the enemy reaction, it reached the consigned objectives. For two days it has defended with tenacity and sacrifices the conquered positions against violent counterattack by the enemy forces. Ruderi di Dobrej, Val Tomorezza – Albania, 24th – 25th – 26th January 1941. (To the "Intra" Battalion).

Decree of 9th May 1960
In the context of catastrophic floods that caused damages and human victims, the units of the 4th Alpine Regiment carried out rescue operations for consecutive days and nights, giving example of courage that raised admiration of the Authorities and gratitude of the population. (Floods of June 1957 in the province of Turin).
