The Regiment originated from the Maneuvre Auto Group of the General Staff of the Army, constituted on 1st January 1948 in Rome with the preexistent 21st special Auto unit and the motorcyclists company that were included in the Auto Units Command of the General Staff of the Army.
On 1st May 1958 it became the 11th Maneuver Auto-group while on 1st October 1976 it was named 11th "Flaminia" Maneuvre Auto Group. At the dependencies of the Services Units Army Command, it included exclusively the personnel in service at the General Staff of the Army.
On 30th October 1977 it received the War Flag and later, on 1st July 1998 it changed its name into 11th "Flaminia" Transports Battalion.
On 1st April 2014 the Transports Battalion was named 11th "Flaminia" Transports Regiment.
