The 132^nd Tank Driver Infantry Regiment was formed in September 1941 in Northern Africa, organized in three M13/40 Tanks Battalion; included in the 132^nd "Ariete" Armoured Division where it formed the 32^nd, it participated in the events of the campaign in Northern Africa to be dissolved on 20^th November 1942, at the end of the battle in El-Alamein. On 5^th December 1942 the survivors of the "Ariete", "Littorio" and 11^th Tanks Battalion of the "Trieste" constituted the 132^nd anti-tanks Regiment that was later dissolved on 18^th April 1943 in Tunisia.

On 1^st April 1949 the 132^nd Tank Drivers Regiment was reconstituted and later renamed 132^nd Tanks Regiment, included in the "Ariete" armoured Division and dissolved on 1^st November 1975 after the reorganization of the Army. The 8^th Tanks Battalion preserved its traditions and assumed the name of 8^th "M.O. Secchiaroli" Tanks Battalion; with the 10^th "M.O. Bruno" it was included in the 132^nd "Manin" Armoured Brigade. On 27^th July 1992 the 132^nd Tanks Regiment was reconstituted.

Today it is included in the 132^nd "Ariete" Armoured Brigade and it is at the dependencies of the 1^st Defence Forces Command.

The Regiment participated in the missions in Somalia ("Ibis" Operation) from December 1992 to June 1993 and in Kosovo ("Joint Guardian" Operation) from November 2000 to February 2001.
