Following the traditions of the assault units of
the Italian Army, the assault infantrymen of the Regiment gave proof of their
valour and sense of responsibility, operating for more than three years in the
“International Security Assistance Force” (ISAF) mission in Afghanistan. With
an extraordinary spirit of sacrifice and absolute sense of duty, in difficult
tactical and environmental conditions, they contributed to the efforts of ISAF
for the stabilization of the Country and helping the afghan people in a
situation of internal conflict. Their success, recognized by the international
community, has contributed to reinforce the prestige of the whole Italian

Prestigious unit, with extraordinary professional qualification and strong temperament, operational versatility and immediate response to any requests for intervention for the sake of the national and international collectivity. It was present in Alto Adige (1967-1971) to carry out antiterrorist operations and in Sardinia (1992) with "Forza Paris" Operation against the criminality; it also participated in missions in Lebanon (1982-1984), in Iraq and Turkey (1991) and in Somalia (1992-1993), showing efficiency, courage and sacrifice. It always performed its duties with success, even in difficult and hostile operational contexts characterized by an high level of risk. The Officers, the Non-Commissioned Officers raiders and the Paratroopers showed their abnegation and dedication to the service, giving example of the greatest military virtues that contributed to increase the prestige of Italy and of its Armed Forces on international field.

The 9th "Col Moschin" Paratroopers Assault Battalion participated, with units included in the Italian forces in Somalia, in rescue operations in favour of the Somalian population. Composed of professionals aware of their essential role in the operation, with morality and sense of duty, it showed dedication and high capabilities in the dangerous mission, confirming the high level of efficiency, courage and morality of its men in particular in searching weapons and in operations against warriors. Its operational detachments, involved in several conflicts, reacted with efficiency and determination showing military valour, operational capability and strong motivation. In spite of the numerous losses in combat situations, it continued to take on its duties with the pride of persevering to ensure security and humanitarian help to the Somalian population and with the determination in giving honour to the Homeland. During the months of war it gave proof of its aggression and lack of scruples. In an offensive action, it developed its maneuver with rapidity, decision and energy, surprising the German disposal. Called for another important task, it entered the battle and broke the enemy deployment; after an audacious fight it reached all the objectives at night. It did not cut the enemy some slack. Extraordinary tenacious war instrument; proud and benevolent, heir of the traditions linked to its name. Colli al Volturno, Guardiagrele, Cingoli, Musone, Esino, 11th Febraury – 25th July 1944. Veteran in the War of Liberation, it participated in the battle on the Apennines of Bologna, giving an important contribute for the liberation of the city. With heroic impetous, it broke the resistance of German units, provoking admiration by the allied units. War for the Liberation of Italy, 20th March – 30th April 1945. The Regiment, part of the Northern Multinational Brigade that was in Bosnia-Herzegovina, carried out its duties with extraordinary enthusiasm, dedication and spirit of sacrifice. During the numerous activities of monitoring, patrolling of the itineraries, escort the humanitarian convoys and controlling of the sites, in a complex operational and environmental situation it operated with high sense of duty and professionalism. The continuous activities of humanitarian support to the populations, the prevention of criminal activities and the rescue of human lives, the men of the 9th "Col Moschin" Assault Regiment showed extraordinary capabilities and courage in their important function of restoring the pacific cohabitation. Example of unit with strong motivation and professionalism, morality and military virtues, it contributed to increase the prestige of Italy and the Armed Force on international level.
