"Siderum vis"

On 5^th July 1996 the 7^th "Vega" Assault Helicopters Regiment was constituted with personnel and means from the 5^th "Rigel" Regiment; by decree of 15^th July 1996 it received the War Flag.

Firstly at the dependencies of the Army Aviation Inspectorate, on 30^th September it was reorganized in 7^th "Vega" Army Aviation Regiment.

Assigned to the "Friuli" Mechanized Brigade, when it was changed into an airmobile unit it was formed by a support squadrons unit, the 25^th "Cigno" squadrons group, the 53^rd "Cassiopea" squadrons group and the 48^th "Pavone" squadrons group. On 1^st January 2000 it was renamed 7^th Air Cavalry Regiment before retaking the current name.
