"Fervidis rotis ad metam"
The Pioneers Engineer Regiment is a specialized unit in the western Armies.
The unit trains its personnel and it has to carry out the ordinary and extraordinary maintenance of the military railway connections. It also provides for the assembly of military detachable loading flat in order to increase the loading and unloading capability in the railway stations, it builds metal road and railway bridges and sends station managers, train drivers, signalmen, switchmen and armament workmen to the Railways.
For the national railway employment the Regiment depends on the Army Logistic Inspectorate while for the international activities it depends on the Engineer COMFOTER (Operational Land Forces Command). With volunteer personnel, the Regiment is organized on an Armament and Bridges Battalion and an Exercise Battalion located in Castel Maggiore (BO) and Ozzano Emilia (BO).
The War Flag is decorated with a Silver Medal to the Army Valour, a Bronze Medal and a War Cross to the Military Valour, a Golden Cross and a Bronze Cross to the Army Merit.
Like all the Engineer regiments, its celebration is on 24th June that is the anniversary of the battle of Piave (1918).
