"Domino e domo"
Constituted in June 1916 in Naples from the 24th Campaign Artillery Regiment, with the 8th, 14th, 27th and 2nd Regiments; the 52nd Campaign Artillery Regiment was employed between 1916 and 1917 on Bainsizza and Piave, before being dissolved in December 1918.
On 1st October 1938 it was reconstituted in Civitavecchia with Groups of the 1st and 13th Regiments. Assigned to the "Torino" Division, after a short operational period on the western alpine front it went to Russia, included in the Italian Expedition Corps to Russia (CSIR) that became later an Army (ARMIR).
During the tragic retreat from the Don it fought as infantry unit; returned to the Homeland, it was dissolved on 31st May 1943 and its named was taken by the 159th Artillery Regiment of the "Veneto" Division that was dissolved in Gorizia after the armistice.
Reconstituted on 1st January 1947 in Acqui as anti-tanks regiment for the "Cremona" Division, in 1948 it changed its name into anti-tanks campaign regiment. After the reorganization in 1975, the Regiment was dissolved and the 1st Group was renamed as 52nd "Venaria" Campaign Artillery Group for the "Brescia" Mechanized Brigade.
Transferred to the "Legnano" Mechanized Brigade on 1st March 1991, it was reorganized in 52nd "Venaria" Self-propelled Campaign Artillery Regiment that on 1st August 1992 became 52nd "Torino" Self-propelled Campaign Artillery Regiment.
It left Brescia to go to Vercelli where it was included in the "Centauro" Brigade. It has participated in the "Ibis" Mission and in the "Vespers" Operations.
When the 8th self-propelled campaign regiment was dissolved, it passed at the dependencies of the "Pozzuolo del Friuli" Cavalry Brigade that left in 2005 for the Artillery Brigade.
