NATO Rapid Deployable Corps Italy is a multinational Headquarters based in Milan, Italy with the operational HQ within "Ugo Mara" barracks in Solbiate Olona.
The unit reports to the Supreme Allied Commander Europe and is ready to be deployed globally, at short notice, to face multiple missions.
It is a High Readiness Headquarters which can be quickly dispatched to command and control NATO troops on missions within or beyond the territory of NATO member states, for the collective defence of Alliance territory or in pursuit of Alliance, EU or coalition security interests.
Thus, NRDC-ITALY is a highly skilled and responsive NATO multinational HQ with Italy as its framework nation, fully contributing to NATO's efforts that aim to strengthen deterrence and defense, and project stability beyond its borders.
Today, NRDC-ITALY is able to manage a wide spectrum of operations within the three core tasks for the Alliance (Deterrence and Defense, Crisis Prevention and Management, and Cooperative Security).
The Command can cover multiple roles, from the Army Corps level in conventional operations to a joint HQ in crisis response operations or stability operations.
This capability is possible thanks to an intense exercise and training program conducted by the staff with the subordinate and affiliated units.
Among these: the Italian Vittorio Veneto and Acqui divisions, the 1st UK Division, the Greek 2nd Mechanized Division, the 10th Slovenian infantry battalion and a Hungarian infantry battalion.
And many supporting units from the Italian Armed Forces.
