The activity is performed on the base of the experience acquired with implementations and LAN (Local Area Network [*]) management. In the descriptive video a simple local network is designed with two subnets interconnected through two routers, simulating the function and analyzing the correct response to UDP (User Datagram Protocol) packets sending.
The Local Area Network simulation permits to save planning time and device configuring time because the configurations made during the simulation can be reported directly on the network equipment.
Moreover, on physical device, the tools provided permit to realize:
measures for the attenuation of the signal transmitted on network cables through the generation of signals:
- in low frequency (range 185 Hz – 200 Hz) or
in high frequency (range 350 Hz – 375 Hz;
measures for the reflection of the signal and the subsequent determination of possible malfunctions of the network equipment through the use of Ping or Trace Route commands;
test on the local network expressed in terms of:
- utilization percentage
- number of errors
- number of collisions
- percentage of the broadcast traffic
connection speed.
