Since 1st January 1986 the "Friuli" has been assigned to the Rapid Deployable Force, an inter-force aiming to intervene immediately against threats on the national territory, and it has operated in many theatres during the twentieth century.
From 1st August to 7th September 1992 the "Friuli" participated in the "Sicilian Vespers" Operation to patrol the territory in the provinces of Agrigento and Caltanissetta. The Brigade came back to Sicily for the same need from 11th February to 22nd March 1993.
Two groups, based on the 78th Infantry Regiment and 6th Bersaglieri Regiment, took it in turns in Somalia between September 1993 and March 1994.
In 1997 it constituted the manoeuvre force of the "Alba" Operation in Albania; in 1998 it took over the "Taurinense" Brigade in Bosnia.
The Brigade was also employed in the third peacekeeping mission abroad as Command of the Communication West Zone of KFOR in Albania, for the "Joint Guardian" Operation.
From 6th September to 20th December 2004 the Brigade constituted the basis of the Italian Joint Task Force, Iraq and Nassiriya, for the "Antica Babilonia" Operation (fourth mission abroad for the Brigade).
