At the end of the First World War, on 1st July 1918 the 7th Engineer Regiment (telegraphists) was constituted and its deposit provided for the formation of several telegraphists companies.
Until November 1919 its units contributed to form Army Corps telegraphists battalions.
On 1st May 1948 a Connections Battalion was constituted in Padova for the needs of the 5th Territorial Military Command; in 1950 it was renamed 5th Connections Battalion and in 1956 5th Signals Battalion, later defined of Army Corps.
After the reorganization of the Armed Force, in October 1975 it became 5th "Rolle" Signals Battalion with the traditions of the 7th regiment.
It received the War Flag on 12th November 1976.
On 4th October 1991 the Battalion formed the "Rolle" Signals Regiment whose establishment was fixed on 1st December 1992 as 7th Signals Regiment.
On 8th January 2002 it took the current structure, on the two "Rolle" and "Predil" Battalions.
