"Sempre in più vasti spazi"
On 16th November 1926 the 2nd Radio telegraphists Regiment was constituted with three battalions of the Radio telegraphists Engineer Regiment become 1st.
After a reorganization of the Engineer Corps, the Regiment was dissolved on 28th October 1932 and its units divided between the different engineer regiments.
On 20th August 1951 the 4th Connections Battalion was constituted in Bolzano, in support of the 4th Army Corps, inheriting the traditions of two units that operated in the Second World War: the 4th Telegraphists Battalion and the 4th Army Connections Battalion.
On 5th February 1952 the unit was named 4th Signals Battalion of Army Corps and in January 1954 it was organized in a Command, an Exercice Company and a Lines Constructions and Signals Centre Company. In 1967 the 3rd Lines Constructions Company.
With the reorganization of the Army, on 1st October 1975 the 4th Battalion was named 4th "Gardena" Signals Battalion inheriting the traditions of the 2nd Radio telegraphists Regiment. On 22nd January 1976 it received the traditional "Alpine Hat" and on 21st March of the same year it received the War Flag.
On 28th August 1992, on the framework of the reorganization of the Armed Force, it became 2nd Signal Alpine Regiment, organized in a Command and Services Company and "Gardena" Battalion to which the 7th Signals Company of the 4th Alpine Army Corps was assigned (located in Bassano del Grappa and heir of the traditions of the 7th "Carnia – Cadore" Signals Battalion) with the name of 2nd Radio Links.
In February 2000 the Regiment passed at the dependencies of the C4 Projection Group included in the C4 – IEW Command (Command Control Communication Computer – Information Electronic Warfare) with the headquarters in Anzio.
In September 2001 the Regiment became Projection Signals Regiment with the establishment of a new battalion on two companies that took the name of the dissolved 42nd "Pordoi" Signals Battalion of the North-Eastern Military Region.
Since January 2005 the Regiment has been organized in a regiment command, command and logistic support command, the "Gardena" battalion (on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Companies) and the "Pordoi" Battalion (on the 4th, 5th and 6th Companies of new formation). The Regiment was included in the Maneuvre Support Signals Brigade depending on the Signals and Information Command, both located in Anzio.
On 1st January 2009 it was officially named 2nd Signals Alpine Regiment.
