The Support Regiment was constituted on 2^nd October 2000 with the merge of the Logistic-Administrative Tactical Support of the Engineer School, the Signals Command, the Gymnastic Sport Centre of the Army and the Administrative Offices. In March 2001 the Training and Specialization Inspectorate of the Army was constituted. Since 1^st August 2001 the Regiment added the infrastructural functions along with the Logistic-Administrative ones; it also increased the number of the Units / Commands to support.

Since 1^st May 2002 the unified infirmary passed at the dependencies of the Medical and Veterinary School. Since 1^st January 2004 the Administrative Office passed at the direct dependencies of the Training Inspectorate. The Regiment still maintained the Infrastructural Logistic Support. Since February 2006 the Training Inspectorate became Command of the Schools. Since 1^st April 2006 the Common Areas Command of the "Cecchignola" Military City passed at the dependencies of the Command of the Schools. On 1^st May 2008 the unified infirmary of the Medical and Veterinary School passed at the dependencies of the Support Regiment.

On 3^rd August 2009 the Regiment passed at the dependencies of the Supports Command of the Land Operational Forces. Since 1^st January 2013 the Regiment passed at the dependencies of the Training, Specialization and Doctrine Command of the Army.

Since 1^st April 2003 the Supports Regiment Command is located at the "Emanuele Filiberto" Barracks in Viale dell'Esercito n. 85, Cecchignola (Rome) that is 40,000 mq wide.

Inside the barracks there are:

• Regiment Command constituted by:

  • Personnel Office, coordinating the activities related to the personnel branch and the functioning of the services in the barracks; it is also responsible for the mail and travel abroad;
  • Training and Security Office, coordinating the training and organizing the main exercices; it is also responsible for the activities related to the security and it manages equipment and materials employed in the training and security sectors;
  • Logistic Office, managing the functioning, the coordination and the development of tactical activities that aims to guarantee the efficiency of the supported Units and the Regiment;
  • Infrastructural Office, coordinating and organizing the services of maintenance and technical management of the infrastructures;
  • Headquarters Command;

  • Infirmary, coordinating the preventive and legal medical branch. It is responsible for the rescue and the medical checks provided by laws.

• Logistic Support Battalion aiming to reach and maintain the maximum level of efficiency in term of personnel, means and materials, thanks to a mechanic workshop, a radio laboratory and a weapons laboratory. The maintenance activities guarantees an excellent response to the logistic support requests, ensuring the functionality of the Transports Companies.

• Company Command and Services that guarantees the security of the check points at the entrance of the Military City; it also supplies guard, escort and surveillance services.

• Fuels and oils deposit that ensures the refueling to the Regiment vehicles, the troops in transit and all the Bodies logistically supported.

 

Situated outside the "Filiberto" Barracks, but always depending on the Support Regiment, there are:

• the shooting gallery;

• the ammunitions and explosives reserve;

• a clothes storage;

• generators laboratory;

• 5 canteens;

• a nursery;;

• a restaurant open to the civil and military personnel in service.​
