On 26th April 2012 the President of the Republic has awarded the War Flag of the Army with the Knight's Cross of the Military Order of Italy, with the following motivation:
"Within a decade, thanks to courage and sacrifice the Italian Army had done of its best for the maintenance of the peace, the stabilisation and reconstruction of crisis areas and the safeguarding of freedom, in coalitions of international organizations. In the operational theatres of Iraq, Afghanistan, Sudan and Lebanon, men and women of the Armed Force has shown their military virtues with unremitting perseverance and daring resoluteness, as examples of self-denial spirit. Their solidarity with local populations and the brilliant results achieved have been admired and recognized by the Homeland and they have contributed to increase the prestige of Italy, in line with the Army traditions."
Iraq, Afghanistan, Sudan, Lebanon (2003-2011).
On 28th May 2003 the President of the Republic has awarded the War Flag of the Army with the Knight's Cross of the Military Order of Italy, with the following motivation:
"Heir of noble and ancient virtues, with sense of duty, spirit of sacrifice and courage, in its everyday activity it has shown the best qualities of the Italian Nation. Faithful to the oath, the Italian Army has unfold the Flags of its units on the devastated neighborhoods of Beirut and in the African territories of Somalia and Mozambique, bringing stability and peace to local populations. Its men, always with sentiments of solidarity, have contributed to bring order, security and hope to the tested populations of Northern Iraq, Bosnia, Albania and Kosovo, as well as East Timor and Afghanistan, distinguishing the Nation with example of behavior, expertise and military capability. The extraordinary professionalism, shown in planning and carrying out difficult operations, and the success gained have stimulated admiration and respect for the efficiency, resolution and spirit of sacrifice by the units called to honour the commitments of the Italian Republic. The military virtues of its men have contributed to raise the Italian Flag in the world".

On 20th May 1997 the President of the Republic has awarded the War Flag of the Army with the Knight's Cross of the Military Order of Italy, with the following motivation:
"Heir of the traditions dating back to the Risorgimento of the Italian people, it has realized the ideals of freedom and unity of the Italian people by carrying out heroics. It has always operated with dedication and sense of duty in the areas where its interventions was considered necessary, offering with valour offering a high human toll. In the context of international organisms, it has participated in operations abroad, highlighting the high operational capabilities, self-denial skills and high sense of human solidarity."
Different areas (1861 - 1996)
The President of the Republic has awarded the War Flag of the Army with the Knight's Cross of the Military Order of Italy, with the following motivation:
"The Italian Army has formed a land component with its units for the operations in Albania, contributing to the constitution of the Multinational Force Protection in the "Alba" Mission (the first UN mission entrusted to the Italian Command). In the period before the Operation, it has intervened with high operational capability in order to guarantee the security for the evacuation of the personnel from the Albanian territory and as premise of the deployment of the Multinational Force. In that occasion the national Units have shown collective and individual operational qualities, unconditioned dedication, high sense of duty, courage and human sensibility that helped to achieve the aims of the national Authorities in the prefixed time limits, in a context of socio-political tensions, inadequate control ability by the Albanian governmental organisms and the presence of irregular armed groups, permitting the free democratic elections. The results achieved, determinants for the social, political and economical recovery of Albania, have increased the prestige of the Italian Army that has deserved the unconditioned esteem by the most important International Organizations, the participant Countries and the whole Nation, as well as the recognition by the Albanian population".

On 29th October 1996 the President of the Republic has awarded the War Flag of the Army with the Gold Medal to Military Valour, with the following motivation:
"It has renewed the ancient traditions of noble heroism in several circumstances. It has always given admirable examples of valour, paid with human lives toll. On all fronts, from the trenches of Italy to the tormented Balkans, from the cold Russian steppe to the arid African desert, it has experienced immense sacrifices during difficult campaigns. Also in the adverse fortune, it has been able to react with a great sense of duty and military honour, as testified by the decorations of the Army, Corps and Units Flags".

On 31st October 1996 the Interior Minister has awarded the War Flag of the Army with the Gold Medal to Civil Valour, with the following motivation:
"Over a century, in occasion of serious natural disasters and critical emergency situations, it has operated uninterruptedly and at the limit of human toil, with all the available resources and materials, rescuing populations in difficulty and showing civil and military virtues, courage and self-denial. The complexity of the techniques used in interventions and the operational readiness shown in dangerous circumstances have testified the high professional capabilities, spirit of sacrifice, unconditioned responsibility and laudable solidarity, deserving confidence and esteem by the Institutions, the populations and the citizens".

Gold Medal to Civil Valour to the War Flag of the Army, with the following motivation:
"In occasion of the violent and catastrophic earthquake causing many victims and damages to civil, social and artistic heritage, the Italian Army has promptly deployed men and operational structures along with the other rescuers; it has operated with unceasing tenacity and determination in order to save people. It has shown an extraordinary logistic and organizational ability, preparing tent cities, homeless shelter refuges and first aid posts, but also reactivating communication routes and working with civil technical Bodies to verify damages. In that situation the Italian Army has shown sense of duty, extraordinary self-denial and high professionalism, gaining admiration and gratitude by the Nation".
Earthquake in the Regions of Marche and Umbria, September 1997 - May 1998.
Silver Medal to Civil Valour to the War Flag of the Army, with the following motivation:
"During the six years of the Operation called "Sicilian Vespers", the Italian Army has permitted to a better control of the territory, employing more than two hundred thousand men from different regions and determining security conditions in Sicily. Thanks to the personnel's professionalism, it has deserved gratitude and appreciation by the Nation and the Republic Institutions".

Gold Medal to Civil Valour to the War Flag of the Army, with the following motivation:
"In occasion of the earthquake occurred in the Region of Abruzzo, the Army has promptly intervened, working with unceasing commitment in order to mitigate the pains of the tested population; it has also shown extraordinary capabilities in preparing homeless shelter refuges and organizing the emergency logistic system. Thanks to its precious contribution with interventions to save people and meet the citizens' needs, it has gained recognition by the local community and the whole Nation".

Gold Medal to Civil Valour to the War Flag of the Army, with the following motivation:
"After the armistice of 8th September 1943, soldiers of the Army have sacrificed themselves for the ideals of the Institutions they represented. For their actions carried out to defend Italian people and symbols along the North-Eastern borders of Italy, the soldiers have gained admiration by the civil population that was victim of the giuliano-istriano-dalmata events. Their behaviour, characterized by spirit of sacrifice, has represented an example of love for the Homeland and the lustre reason for Italy".

Silver Medal to Civil Valour to the War Flag of the Army, with the following motivation:
"In occasion of a disastrous landslide in the Municipalities of Quindici, Siano and Bracigliano, it has intervened with men and vehicles in rescue of the population. It has worked with spirit of self-denial and great professionalism in order to save people, alleviate distress and pains, restore conditions of normality. Example of high civil and military virtues and of concrete human solidarity".

Gold Medal to the Merit of the Italian Red Cross to the War Flag of the Army, with the following motivation:
"In recognition for having ensured logistic support, qualified collaboration and professionalism in humanitarian initiatives, through the Commander and the Units of the South-Western Brigade of PEC/PEJE".

Gold Medal to the Merit of the Public Health to the War Flag of the Army, with the following motivation:
"For its capability, humanity and moral steadfastness in rescue operations in favour of national and foreign populations tested by natural disasters, but also in its efficient interventions abroad in support of peace where the Army has contributed to stabilize the situation and improve life and health conditions, by ensuring the environmental quality and protecting the peace and the comprehension among men".
