Lieutenant General Enrico Cosenz Artillery Officer, was the first Chief of the Staff of the Italian Army and he has performed his duties for ten years. He was appointed Artillery Officer of the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies and in 1948 he left the active service to go to Venice with the General Gugliemo Pepe. He was Chief of the Staff from 1882 to 1893; he published some critic studies about campaigns and wars of his century. He was repeatedly deputy and in 1872 he was appointed Senator. Since 27th February 2024 the Chief of the Staff is the Lieutenant General Carmine Masiello.
