The Field Vehicles Unit, constituted on 1st November 1998, originated from the mixed Administrative Company that was formed in 1980 for interventions in case of public disasters and soon employed on the occasion of the earthquake in November 1980 in the regions of Campania and Basilicata, in Pozzuoli and in all the other emergencies, until the most recent ones.
At the same time the Army was employed outside the national territory (in Lebanon) in 1982, the Company became an operational component to support the forces in the Lebanese theatre. The Field Vehicles Unit is organized in a Command, four Support Companies and a Services Platoon.
For the activity in the Operational Theatre, under the operational control (OPCON) of the Projection Logistic Brigade, it is an operational-logistic unit, multifunctional and with great potentialities that is able to deploy and manage field structures in case of emergency in order to support the forces employed in the national and international territory.
