The first nucleus of the Sport Activities Unit of the Alpine Training Centre was founded in 1936 within the Alpinism Military Central School, later transformed into a centre dedicated to the sports of snow and ice in 1960.
At the Perenni Barracks in Courmayeur, the Sport Activities Unit trains the athletes of all specialties of alpine skiing, cross country skiing, sledging, short track, sky race, winter biathlon, alpinism skiing and climbing (alpinism section).
The athletes and the most qualified technicians are in the Italian National Teams of the FISI (Winter Sports Italian Federation) and the FISG (Ice Sport Italian Federation) and they participate in the most important national and international competitions.
