"Sa vida pro sa Patria"

On 1^st March 1915 the 151^st Infantry Regiment was constituted from the Deposit of the 46^th Infantry Regiment, in the mobilization centre of Sinnai. With its twin 152^nd Infantry Regiment, it assembles the "Sassari" Brigade, a unit of the Army composed and headed exclusively by Sardinians.

Supported by a high combat spirit and cohesion, the unit has distinguished on battlefield. Its small soldiers, aggressive and expert in close combats, were called "devils" by the Austro-Hungarians. Flattered by the nickname of the enemy, since then the Sardinians were called "Dimonios". The Regiment fought in Bosco Cappuccio, Mount San Michele, trench of frasche, Castelgomberto, Casera Zebio, on Mount Zebio, Mosciagh, Bainsizza, Buttrio and Monticano, Col del Rosso and Col dell'Echele, Croce di Musile, Losson, Santa Lucia di Piace and Sacile. For the excellent conduct of its infantrymen, the Regiment concluded the Great War deserving the Military Order of Italy and two Golden Medals to the Military Valour.

In 1926 it was named 151^st "Sassari" Infantry Regiment and assigned to the 12^th Infantry Brigade. In 1935 it mobilized a gunners battalion for the Campaign in Eastern Africa; in 1939, with the 152^nd Infantry and 34^th Artillery Regiments, it was incorporated in the 12^th "Sassari" Infantry Division that, employed in Yugoslavia from 1941 to 1943, came back to Italy in March 1943 to settle around Rome. There, after the battles for the defence of Rome together with the Grenadier of Sardinia, the Regiment was dissolved on 10^th September 1943.

Reconstituted on 1^st April 1962, the Regiment lasted until 30^th September 1975, located in Trieste and incorporated in the "Trieste" Troops Command. On 1^st January 1976 the 151^st "Sette Comuni" Infantry Battalion was formed in Cagliari, inheriting Flag and traditions of the 151^st Regiment. It changed its name into 151^st "Sette Comuni" Motorized Infantry Battalion in 1985 and in 1988 it was incorporated in the reconstituted "Sassari" Brigade. Changed into Mechanized in 1991, on 30^th July 1992 was incorporated in the reconstituted 151^st "Sassari" Infantry Regiment.
