Major General Andrea Di Stasio attended the Military Academy of Modena in 1987. He graduated in Mechanical Engineering in 1995 and International Diplomatic Sciences in 2005, respectively at the University of Bologna and Trieste. He attended the 1st year of the War School in Italy in 1999, obtaining a master's degree in "Strategic Sciences", and the Istituto Superiore di Stato Maggiore in Madrid in 2003, where he obtained a master's degree in "High Strategic Studies".
During his career, he has held various operational and General Staff assignments, in Italy and abroad (Operational Theaters of Bosnia, Iraq, Somalia and Lebanon), among which deserves special mention Strategic Advisor to the Somali Minister of Defense in the context of the EUTM (European Union Training Mission) - Somalia mission, Liaison Officer at the French General Staff of Defense in Paris as well as Commander of the West Sector of UNIFIL (United Nations Interim Force In Lebanon) in Lebanon.
In 2014, he studied and established the 3rd Helicopter Regiment for Special Operations " Aldebaran", becoming also its 1st Commander.
Since June 27, 2018, he has held the position of Commander of the "Sassari" Brigade in Sardinia, participating in the "Strade Sicure" operation in Rome and the mission in Lebanon.
From November 5, 2021 to April 11, 2024 he was the Commander of the Army Aviation in Viterbo.
From April 22, 2024 to March 19, 2025 he was the Commander of the Italian Army Non-Commissioned Officers School.
Since March 20, 2025 he is the Commander of the Italian Army Southern Operational Forces.
He is Married to Sanja and is father of Matteo and Marco. He speaks English, French and Spanish.
