Golden Medal to the Military Valour
Decree of 12th October 1953
For seven months it opposed successfully and with honour the offensive of the strongest armoured enemy units. Reduced in the number of tanks for the numerous battles and for the desert environment where it operated, in a tragic moment, deployed in a position to defend a stronghold of Tobruk, it resisted against the enemy efforts stopping it along the way towards the sea. After having forced the enemy to conquer the position with a difficult battle and many losses, the wounded survivors of the Regiment destroyed weapons and materials, setting on fire the Flag with the military honours. (Bardia, Sollum, Passo Halfaia, Sidi El-Barrani, Tobruk, 8th July 1940 – 21st January 1941).
Bronze Medal to the Military Valour
Decree of 12th October 1953
During a difficult period of operations, against an enemy superior in forces and means, isolated and with faith and high spirit of sacrifice, it opposed to the enemy offensive from Bardia to Agedabia, facing in any battle the destruction and considering the battle finished only when the last tank was set on fire. The intrepid tank drivers sacrificed themselves for the duty and the honour. (Egypt, Marmarica, 9th December 1940 – 5th January 1941). (To the 20th Tanks Battalion).
