The Firing Range of Monte Romano is a large training area that, since the second half of the 50's, has hosted a managing authority of the area as contingent of the 8^th Territorial Military Command in Rome.​

Later it has become independent with the name of "Firing Range" of Monte Romano.

At first it had the task of managing the housing of the personnel in the barracks; over the time it has assumed a more complex structure, taking charge of combat tracked vehicles to use by the units employed in the firing range.

In 1991, after the reorganization of the Army, it became 9^th "Medaglia d'Oro Butera" armoured Battalion assigned to the "Acqui" Mechanized Brigade, located in L'Aquila.

On 29^th September 1995 the 9^th armoured Battalion was suppressed and substituted by the Logistic Supports Unit Firing Range of Monte Romano.
