With great operational efficiency levels, the Regiments, the Squadron Groups, the repair Units and the ALE Centre has intervened in several occasions in favour of the populations in order to provide assistance, to bring supplies in isolated places, to make urgent transports of sick and traumatized people, to put out fires; they were always present in situations that required human solidarity and preservation of life. Outside the national borders the Army Light Aviation has contributed in humanitarian peacekeeping missions of the Army for the UN of for national initiative (Lebanon, Turkey, Namibia, Albania, ex Yugoslavia and Somalia). In any occasion Officers, Non-Commissioned Officers and Soldiers of the Army Aviation have done their utmost with professionalism, altruism, dedication and responsibility, up to sacrifice of life, increasing the glorious heritage of military and civil virtues and giving luster and prestige to Italy (Vajont, October 1963 – Somalia, January 1993).
Silver Medal to the Civil Valor
Decree
It participated in many risky rescue operations to help people in centres devastated by a violent flood. Even if the continuous flight activity was hindered by unfavourable weather conditions, it permitted the timely recovery of wounded people and the rescue of people remained isolated as well as the supply of food and medicines (Florence 5-22 November 1966).
Silver Medal to the Civil Merit
Decree
In occasion of a great earthquake, Officers, Non-Commissioned Officers and Soldiers of the Army Aviation Centre intervened promptly in the disaster areas to help the civil populations. They did their most to save lives buried in the rubble and they set up tent cities for the homeless; in that way they contributed in a gradual return of the normality (Tuscania, February 1971).
Gold Medal to the Merit of the Public Health
Decree
For its continuous rescue work in favour of the civil population on the national territory and for the essential health contribute by the international humanitarian missions (Rome, 16th March 1994).
