Golden Medal to the Military Valour

For the superb behavior of the "Conegliano" and "Udine" Groups during the Italian-Greek campaign. With valour and sacrifice they constituted with their batteries the nucleus that launched the offensive on Mali, Schindeli, Golico and Pindo. They were valorous among the valorous and Alpine Troopers among the Alpine Troopers. (Greek front: Pindo, Mali, Schindeli, Golico. 28th October 1940 – 23rd April 1941).

Magnificent group of weapons and spirits, reinforced by the splendors of the campaign in Albania, with the "Conegliano", "Udine" and "Val Piave" Groups, the 77th anti-tank Battery, the 45th and 47th anti-aircraft Batteries, it intervened to stop the enemy that advanced in another sector of the front. For thirty days the batteries of the Regiment operated in the adverse weather conditions of Russia and repelled the enemy. Later by order the Regiment had to retreat. The alpine artillerymen of the 3rd managed to open a way through the enemy encirclement with sacrifice and valour. In that way they showed the traditions of valour, abnegation and sacrifice typical of the Italian Alpine Artillery. (Russian front, 15th September 1942 – 1st February 1943).

Decree of 2nd December 1977
Tragically hit by the earthquake on 6th May 1976, the Unit intervened immediately to rescue the population of Gemona. Led by Commanders with different ranks, the personnel worked night and day in extremely difficult conditions endangering its life to save people buried under the ruins. It contributed to limit the damages caused by the disaster. Refusing the turnover, it continued the rescue operations, giving proof of extraordinary steadfastness.
