On 6th February 1917 the "Piceno" Brigade was constituted with the 235th Infantry Regiment that operated in the final part of the First World War; dissolved in December 1918 it was reconstituted from March to September 1919.
On 20th September 1941 it was reconstituted as 235th "Piceno" Infantry Regiment and changed into 383rd "Venice" Infantry Regiment on 1st December. Since 20th February, with the 236th Infantry and the 152nd Artillery, it was incorporated in the 152nd "Piceno" Infantry Division. Deployed in Puglia, it passed the period of the armistice and was included in the "Piceno" Combat Group, constituted by other four (Folgore, Friuli, Mantova and Cremona) to support the Allies in the War of Liberation.
After being named 235th "Piceno" Infantry Regiment on 10th may, it was dissolved on 31st January 1946.
On 1st January 1976 the 235th "Piceno" Infantry Battalion was formed, inheriting the Flag and the traditions of the Regiment. On 10th February 1994 the Battalion was incorporated in the reconstituted 235th "Piceno" Regiment. It has been the first Regiment to train female personnel.
