Communication and information sharing are essential in a team but also towards the Command levels because they help to integrate the manoeuvre unit in the command and control system that is network-central: all the elements that participate in an operation are active parts of a unified network. Through the communication subsystem a soldier can connect to the net using individual or team radio devices that guarantee communication.
The Communication Node Unit (UNC) represents the core of the communication subsystem because it guarantees the connectivity between components of the soldier system and between the soldier system and the external networks.
A soldier can also use the Individual Pocket Radio (IPR) that is his personal radio for intra-team communication.
The Wireless button PTT (Push To Talk), that permits to use the radio at a distance, is on the handle of the gun in order to be easy to use also in critical operational situations.
The Data and Audio Distribution Unit (DDA) allows an easy operational management of the
audio communication (via radio through the microphone headset) and data
communication (full duplex) between the Wearable Personal Computer (WPC) and
the devices located on the helmet (NIMOS).
