The Paratroopers have got a patch designed in the second postwar when, after the reconstitution of the air-transported units, their traditional insignia was used by another regiment that is not a paratrooper regiment anymore.
The traditional insignia was constituted by a blue rectangle with a golden seven-feather wing and a Roman sword on its upper part. In the lower part there is the star for the Paratroopers regiments, the army or corps patch for the Artillery, the Engineer, the Signals, the Transports and Materials, the Supply Corps and the Medical Corps.
The problem have been solved by adding an open parachute to the insignia, between the wing and the sword. Recently this element has completed the patch of the Alpine Paratroopers that have put it on the shorter tip of their green flames, followed by the Raiders of the 9th Regiment that since 2005 have the black flames.
Another change has completed the patch of the Engineer unit included in the Air-Troops: there is the flaming bomb of the Sappers under the wing, the sword and the parachute.
