• 24th May – Italy went to war against Austria-Hungary. Italian soldiers overtook the previous borders and attacked the enemy positions.
  • 25th May-28th May – Occupation of Mount Altissimo, Ala, Cortina d’Ampezzo.
  • 12th June – Italian soldiers occupied the Plezzo Valley.
  • 16th June – The Alpinos conquered Mount Nero through an intrepid action.
  • 23rd June-7th July – First Battle of the Isonzo.
  • 18th July-4th August – Second Battle of the Isonzo.
  • 18th October-4th November – Third Battle of the Isonzo.
  • 10th November-2nd December – Fourth Battle of the Isonzo.
  • 11th March-19th March – Fifth Battle of the Isonzo.
  • 12th April – Italian troops attacked on the Adamello. They fought over 3000 meters high.
  • 18th April – The peak of Col di Lana was conquered after a mine had blown up.
  • 15th May-31st May – The Austrians undertook a punitive expedition, called “Strafexpedition”, against Italy. After bloody battles the attack failed.
  • 29th June – The Austrians launched asphyxiating gas in the area of Monte S. Michele.
  • 12th July – Cesare Battisti and Fabio Filzi were hanged after having been caught during an attack on Monte Corno some days before.
  • 6th August-17th August – Sixth Battle of the Isonzo. Gorizia was conquered by the Italians. In the first day of battle Enrico Toti died.
  • 28th August – Italy declared war on Germany.
  • 14th September-17th September – Seventh Battle of the Isonzo.
  • 10th October-12th October – Eighth Battle of the Isonzo.
  • 1st November-2nd November – Ninth Battle of the Isonzo.
  • 12th May-28th May – Tenth Battle of the Isonzo.
  • 10th June-29th June – Battle of Ortigara.
  • 17th August – Eleventh Battle of the Isonzo and Italian victory on the Plateau of Bainsizza.
  • 24th October – The Germans and the Austro-Hungarians waged the twelfth Battle of the Isonzo and they managed to pass through the Isonzo Valley, between Tolmino and Caporetto.
  • 8th November – General Cadorna was dismissed from the position of Army Commander. He was succeeded by General Diaz.
  • 15th June-23rd June – The Battle of the Solstizio. The Austro-Hungarians managed to go beyond the Piave river. The Italian soldiers resisted. On 23rd​ the enemy retreated.
  • 9th August – D’Annunzio flew to Vienna.
  • 24th October-3rd November – The Italians undertook an offensive along Grappa and Piave. The Italian troops occupied Vittorio Veneto. The Austrian front collapsed everywhere. Austria-Hungary asked for the armistice.
  • 4th November – the hostilities between Italy and Austria-Hungary ended: Bulletin​ of the Victory.
  • 11th November – Armistice between the Allies and the Germany whose armies retreated everywhere. The Great War ended.
