A powerful war instrument, with dedication to sacrifice and glory, in two years on a desert territory it gave proof of its heroic valour. In constant contact with the stronger enemy, it opposed courage and determination defeating it in any battle. Never stopped by the enemy in its victorious marches, it always managed to crush the enemy initiatives. The generous blood of its Officers, Non-Commissioned Officers and Bersaglieri, sprayed the sands of the desert: El-Mechili, Tobruk, Pass of Halfaja, Sollum, Capuzzo, Bir El-Gobi, Dakar El-Aslagh, names that were related to the glories of the Homeland and they were the glorious stages of the Regiment. The enemy also expressed admiration for the infantrymen of the Regiment, representing the purest warrior virtues of the Italic ancestry. (Northern Africa, April 1941 – September 1942).

After giving extraordinary contribution of faith and blood to the common action, in seven days it repelled the enemy forces and maintained its positions. (Battle of Mareth, Tunisia. March – April 1943).

Incorporated in the ITALFOR contingent on the framework of the "Joint Endeavour" Multinational Operation in Bosnia Herzegovina, since the beginning of the mission the Regiment operated with extraordinary capabilities and admirable spirit of sacrifice to ensure the positive end of the operation, in a situation endangered by the struggles between groups and worsen by the prohibitive weather conditions. The Bersaglieri of the 8th Regiment managed to pass the difficulties and, thanks to their sense of responsibility and determination, they imposed to the contenders the respect of the international agreements, deserving the groups' trust. The way of the 8th Regiment to operate in its area of responsibility permitted it to implement the peacekeeping plan but it also contributed to restore gradually the normal life conditions of the local population, thanks to the sense of the security spread by the Italian soldiers patrolling the territory. The soldiers of the 8th Regiment gave proof of their capabilities, spirit of abnegation and extraordinary human solidarity in managing the delicate activities in Vogoska (the first borough of Sarajevo to be involved in the transfer of the authorities between the groups) or in the escort of humanitarian convoys along the dangerous way to Goradze, or on the occasion of the exodus of 6,000 Serbians towards the Serbian Republic of Bosnia, or in the protection of human lives and infrastructures, or in any other situations they were involved. They reached excellent results recognized at an international level but also by the local populations. Great example of high professionalism, moral solidity and military valour that increased the prestige of the Italian Army and the Nation. (Bosnia Herzegovina, 18th December 1995 – 22nd May 1996).

On the difficult peaks of Cadore, in bloody battles, it was example of force and firmness. In defending the Piave it stopped the enemy march. As vanguard of a special Bersaglieri Division, in the supreme battle for the revival, it burst into Piave, offering its courageous Bersaglieri for the victory of the Homeland (4th November 1918).

It promptly intervened with men and vehicles in the areas of Friuli devastated by the violent earthquake, working hard for several days in a generous rescue operation in favour of the population hit by the disaster. With high sense of duty and spirit of human solidarity, it faced the dangers for the continuous earth tremors, contributing to reduce the consequences of the disastrous event. The help offered with tenacity and generosity raised recognition and appreciation increasing the prestige of the Army. (Friuli, 6th May 1976 – 30th April 1977).

The 8th Bersaglieri Regiment, with the other regiments of the Army, showed generous altruism and heroic abnegation in rescuing the populations hit by the disaster of Vajont, facing hidden dangers and difficulties. (Longarone, 10th – 15th October 1963).

In the night between 20th and 21st July 1915, with indestructible valour it maintained its conquered position of Mount San Michele. In the morning of 21st, with counterattacks and sacrifices of blood, it permitted the troops threatened by the encirclement to retreat from the position. (Mount San Michele, 21st July 1915).
