Golden Medal to the Military Valour
Decree of 26th March 1963
The Paratroopers Regiment of the glorious "Folgore" Division, along with its divisional units, operated for three months with valour in many offensive actions stopping the impetuous advance of the enemy, superior in number and means. In the epic battle of El-Alamein, in spite of the losses and the lack of water, food and ammunitions, it refused to surrender. Through many episodes of collective and individual heroism, it continued to resist raising respect and admiration by the enemy. Decree of 5th October 1994
The 185th "Folgore" Paratroopers Regiment, included in the Italian Forces in Somalia, participated with dedication and professionalism in rescue operations in favour of the Somali population, confirming the high level of efficiency, courage and generosity also in the research of weapons and operations against bandits. Involved in many fire conflicts, it always reacted with efficiency and determination highlighting the military valour, the operational capability and the strong motivation of its men. In spite of the losses in battle, it continued to carry out its tasks with pride in order to give security and humanitarian support to the Somali population and honour to the Homeland.
