Exhausted Regiment for the campaign in northern Africa, decided to defend the honour of the Flag, it opposed the enemy covering itself in glory during the battle of Tunisia. The 1st Battalion, that had to defend a stronghold representing the honour place of the defensive position, attacked, isolated and without provisions, it fought for three days containing the enemy. Collapsed the stronghold, some survivors continued the resistance with the last grenades. (Mareth, Akarit, Enfidaville, Takrouna – northern Africa, 5th March – 12th May 1943).

In the Afghan operational theatre, with difficult environmental and security conditions, the personnel of the unit showed high professional preparation, trust in its means, determination and sharing of objectives. In that way the unit carried out its missions in areas characterized by the presence of rebels; on the occasion of those missions, the Regiment demonstrated to be composed by soldiers with great corps spirit, extraordinary military virtues and courage, capable of reaching their objectives. An extraordinary unit that guaranteed the security in all the area and strengthen the image of the Italian Army in a joint force and international context. Infantry Regiment of the "Friuli" Airmobile Brigade, interpreter of the ancient infantry traditions, that participated in the "5th Ancient Babylon" Operation in Iraq. Employed in an area characterized by conflicts and environmental difficulties, it gave operational and logistic contribution to the Italian Joint Task Force. Showing dedication, enthusiasm and solidarity, it carried out its operational activities and humanitarian support to the population with efficiency and determination in spite of violent attacks. Involved in the formation of the 604th Battalion of the Iraqi National Guard, it prepared and trained the unit of the new Iraqi Army with abnegation and determination, in order to give the State efficient institutions able to guarantee security and stability on the territory. Its soldiers showed their preparation also in several and dangerous operational activities carried out with the Iraqi National Guard and the Iraqi Police Service; on those occasions the Italian personnel faced the continuous enemy attacks with abilities, determination and courage, sequestrating huge quantities of weapons, ammunitions and stolen materials and arresting dangerous criminals and militiamen. In particular, during the night between 7th and 8th September 2004, on the "Tampa" bridge in Al-Nassiriyah, the Regiment patrol that protected the disposition became an objective for the militiamen against the forces. Only the intervention of the Regiment operational assets supporting the patrol restored security and stability, permitting to the units to continue the patrol activity of the important infrastructure. Airmobile Infantry Regiment with unity, motivation and sense of altruism, showed its qualified professional preparation, courage, morality and extraordinary military virtues, strengthening the prestige of the Army and the Nation in the international context. Bronze Medal to the Army Valour

It substituted another unit in the areas hit by the earthquake on 23rd November 1980 with four hundred military (Officers, Non-Commissioned Officers and Troop), intervening in the municipalities of Laviano, Santomenna, Colliano, Valva, Castelnuovo di Conza, Contrusi that were considered the most devastated areas in the province of Salerno. From 30th November to 20th December 1980 it operated without any break for the rescue and the burial of more than three hundred corpses, for the setting up of tent cities and the provision of hot meals to the survivors, giving the earthquake victims trust and serenity. After twenty days of continuous activities without ceding in difficult weather conditions, it raised recognition and esteem by the population of the municipalities where it had worked.
