"Ultra nomen virtus"
In 1953 the Army Unit for the Repair of Light Aircrafts was formed in order to give the technical-logistic support to the air units at the dependencies of the Studies and Experiences Centre of the DMV Command, with the technical support of the 8th Automotive Repair Laboratory in Rome.
Called 1st Army Unit for the Repair of Light Aircrafts on 1st July 1958, by the Decree of 12th December 1989 it was given the War Flag on 6th October 1990. Since 2nd June 1993 its name has been modified into 1st Army Aviation Repair Unit.
On 1st September 1996 it was given the name of 1st Army Aviation Support "Idra" Regiment. On 1st June 1999, with the reorganization of the Army, the 1st Idra Regiment became part of the Cavalry Corps and the name of "Army Aviation" was changed into "Air Cavalry". On 3rd October 1999 the War Flag was substituted by the Banner with a ceremony at the 1st Nizza Cavalry Regiment (Pinerolo).
On 3rd November 2003, with a further reorganization of the Army, the Regiment was named 1st Army Aviation Support "Idra" Regiment.
It is now at the dependencies of the Army Logistic Command – Transport and Material Department – Army Aviation Materials Unit.
