"Per aerem usque ad metam"

​After the reorganization of the Army Command level and the restoration of the Regiments, at the same time of the expansion of the problems linked to the Civil Protection, on 1^st October 1996 the General Staff of the Army ordered the institution of the 2^nd "Sirio" Regiment of the Army Aviation.

The Regiment was placed at the "Martucci" airport in Lamezia Terme and at its dependencies there were the 12^th "Gru" Squadrons Group and the 20^th "Andromeda" Squadrons Group of Pontecagnano (SA).

Later, on 1^st October 1997 it hired the 30^th "Pegasus" Squadrons Group in Lamezia but on 30^th April 1998 it lost the 12^th Group.

Nowadays it has got at its dependencies the 20^th and the 30^th Squadrons Group.
