In occasion of the earthquake on 23^rd November 1980 it intervened rapidly in the provinces of Campania and Basilicata, in unfavorable atmospheric conditions, operating in inaccessible areas; it provided to evacuate wounded people, to rescue isolated families, to transport and distribute food and medicines, transfer medical personnel in the most damaged centres. The rapid use of all the available vehicles, the contempt of danger and the spirit of sacrifice of the personnel have permitted to contribute to the rescue of human lives and to the supply of essential materials. Great example of military and civil virtue, with great technical ability as well as generous and courageous altruism; it received deep admiration and gratitude by the civil Authorities and the rescued people, contributing to raise the prestige of the Army.
