"Primus nomine, factisque fulgentior"

The 1^st Army Aviation "Antares" Regiment was instituted on 1^st February 1976 in Viterbo, after a reorganization of some units of the Army and, in particular, of the Light Aviation.

It has included the 1^st General-Use Helicopters Regiment and the 1^st Medium Helicopters Regiment that have been named 11^th "Ercole" ETM Squadrons Group, 12^th "Gru" ETM Squadrons Group and 51^st "Lion" ETM Squadrons Group.

On 1^st September 1981 the 12^th "Gru" ETM Squadrons Group dissolved and was incorporated in the pre-existent​ 11^th Squadrons Group.

Since 1^st January 2000 it was renamed 1^st "Antares" Air Cavalry Regiment and since 1^st September 2001 it has had among its units the 26^th "Jupiter" Aviation Squadrons Group of the Army that was part of the "Folgore" Paratroopers Brigade.
