In seven months of hard campaign on the Russian front, it showed itself as powerful war unit with energies, strong voluntary and legendary courage. During the most difficult maneuvre of retreat from the Don front, its "Vestone", "Verona" and "Val Chiese" Battalions gave proof of their war qualities in spite of the adverse weather conditions. Operating with ability on a dangerous territory, in many battles in Posto Jalyj, Scheljakino, Maiakeiewa, Arnautowo and Nikolajewka, they always hindered the enemy forces supported by armoured vehicles. Thanks to their valour, spirit of abnegation, courage and enthusiasm, they crushed the enemy troops limiting their violent advance and opening a way to save Italian and allied units. The three battalions, faithful to their ancient tradition, went beyond their heroic victorious war past with legendary valour. Against an enemy superior in terms of forces and means, the "Vestone" and "Verona" Alpine Battalions showed courage, valour and sacrifice and repelled any enemy attempts. Attacked on 21st December by enemy forces, in three days of epic battle, they resisted counterattacking and forcing the enemy to retreat. In the final phase of the campaign, they crushed the last resistances and managed to occupy important positions, giving contribution in the enemy defeat. (Morava, Q.M. Lenije; M.Shkalles; Pupatit; Komjanit; Leskoviku. 18th November 1940 – 21st April 1941.)
Bronze Medal to the Military Valour

It attacked and crushed in battle the first Russian lines; it occupied the enemy positions of resistance. Counterattacked by strong forces, it resisted. When it was ordered to retreat, it retreated respecting the enemy and counterattacking it. Example of courage and tenacity. Decree of 5th June 1910
It distinguished for courage and abnegation in rescuing the populations hit by the earthquake occurred in the regions of Calabria and Sicily on 28th December 1908.
Bronze Medal to the Merit of the Red Cross
In recognition of its generous contribution in the rescue operations organized by the Italian Red Cross in favour of the populations hit by the flood in November 1994.
