The military band of the Anti-aircrafts Artillery Command was constituted in 1970. After more than twenty years of musical activity in the "Giulio Cesare" Barracks in Rimini, in 1992 it was moved to the "Mario Romagnoli" Barracks in Padova, at the dependencies of the Anti-aircrafts Artillery Brigade.
In 1994 Senior Marshal Nicolò Mannino, who founded the band, was substituted by Marshal Fabrizio Nardi until April 1997. In May of the same year Marshal Ermanno Pantini, that already was of the dissolved Military Band of the "Cadore" Alpine Brigade, became the new director.
On 11th September 2009, after about 18 years of activity carried out in Padova, the band was moved to Sabaudia at the "Santa Barbara" Barracks, the headquarters of the Anti-aircrafts Artillery Command.
The band is composed by 35 elements, selected among volunteers in one-year and four-year conscription and volunteers in permanent service with previous experiences in the music sector. In spite of personnel turnover, the band managed to maintain a classical repertoire along with the military one, raising great approvals.
The band has participated in several national and international events such as:
- 39th International Festival of Mons;
-
International Arts Festival at the “Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe” in Belgium;
- World Military Games in Zagabria;
- 8th International Festival of military bands in Vienna;
- 5th Music Festival in Uniform that took place in Friuli Venezia Giulia;
- 12th International Berliner Militar Musikfest in Berlin;
- Armed Forces Celebration at the Italian Emigrants Association in Geneva;
- Armed Forces Celebration at the new Italian Embassy in Berlin;
- Several editions of the International Festival
of military bands in Modena.
The band, located in Padova, has also collaborated with the "Pollini" music Conservatory.
It is now conducted by Major Sergeant Pasquale Casertano.
