The Centre has got the following tasks:

• maintaining the efficiency of materials, vehicles and equipment supplied to the Units of the Army deployed on the national territory and in the Operational Theatres, in reference to artilleries, armoured vehicles, tanks, special vehicles, engineer materials, tracked vehicles for alpine troops, energy stations and their systems including the opto-electronic and signals ones;
• equipment or assembly of spare parts, supports and different objects, if the acquisition from private industry is not possible or convenient.

The activities related to the tasks include: efficiency tests and recovery, according to the technical laws of the "ILE"; revisions and transformations; technical-logistic support to the operational units; tests and calibration of the equipment; maintenance of the efficiency and modernization of equipment and facilities that ensure the practicality of the Centre; collaboration with centres or units for the refuelling​ and the maintenance (CERIMANT/SERIMANT) located in their jurisdiction area and with adequate operational capabilities in the maintenance activities, according to the indications of the Logistic Command of the Army; collaboration with the Maintenance Centre of Electronic Telecommunication and Opto-electronic Means (POLMANTEO) in the activities for maintaining the efficiency of materials, vehicles and electronic or opto-electronic equipment, according to the indications of the Logistic Command; elaboration, preservation and update of technical documents; studies and experiments and realization of prototypes; technical investigations and analysis on accidents, inefficiencies and drawbacks; technical training of the personnel involved in maintaining materials and vehicles; completion of technical-administrative procedures for the acquisition from the private industry of goods and services to be used in carrying out the activities.

If it is authorized, the Centre can carry out activities for the Armed Forces, State agencies or private organizations and for foreign States in relation to international agreements.
