It originates from the nucleus of soldiers driving petrol cars and that was constituted in 1903 at the Railway Pioneers Engineer Brigade. After many changes in its organization, the Transports and Materials Corps reached the current status in 1998.
Grown for commitments and size through the Service and later Automotive Corps, the Transports and Materials Corps performs logistic tasks.
Its main aim is the responsibility of the armament materials, the vehicles and the weapons necessary for the movement and the land fighting.
The capability and competence of the personnel is very important for the deployment of national contingents in international missions.
The Units, organized before in Logistic Battalions, have been reorganized in Transports and Manoeuvre Regiments and inserted in the Projection Logistic Brigade.
Since 2015 they have been reorganized in Logistic Regiments and inserted in the Brigades of the Italian Army giving them autonomy to carry out their duties in the Operational function of "Projectable Logistic Support".
