The final phase of multinational exercise “Brave Warrior” – named “Rising” – was completed at Bakonykuti training area, near Camp Croft (Veszprém), Hungary. The drill marked the culmination of training for NATO’s Forward Land Forces (FLF) Battle Group deployed in Hungary.

The 72-hour field training exercise (FTX), aimed at reaching Full Operational Capability (FOC) under NATO standards, involved about 500 troops from Italy’s “Aosta” Mechanized Brigade, the Hungarian Mechanized Brigade, and the Croatian Military Police. Activities were conducted using the MILES laser simulation system in a highly realistic warfighting scenario.

The Italian maneuver company, based on “Aosta” Brigade, deployed a composite force including two infantry platoons, heavy mortar units, snipers, engineers, an artillery section with FH-70 howitzers, a JTAC team, and a reconnaissance platoon with “Blindo Centauro” armored vehicles.

The troops faced complex tactical challenges requiring close coordination, rapid communication, and synchronized movement and fire support. NATO validation staff oversaw the exercise and officially certified the unit’s operational readiness.

“Brave Warrior” highlighted the value of standardized procedures and allied cooperation in achieving full interoperability and mission effectiveness.
