​The SIACCON ADV (Italian Automated Information System for Command and Control) is an instrument used by the Army to automate decision-making and planning processes of an Army Command Post in operations. The system is divided into two modules that automate the activities of the functional areas and permit to realize a Command and Control structure based on the Network Centric Warfare (NCW) principle. Among the main operational activities provided by the SIACCON ADV there are:

• the update on the situation, through data collection about the natural environment, the friendly and enemy forces;
• the data selection through activities of correlation, check and evaluation;
• the dynamic update of the situation, highlighting important changes;
• the use of the selected information and their visualization to develop the decision-making process and to transform the Commander's decisions into orders;
• the emission of orders and information and the monitoring of their implementation. ​
