Bersaglieri Regiment with great operational capability, it operated on the Iraqi territory for seven months with intense activity. In a difficult and danger context, all the personnel of the unit gave proof of courage, valour, spirit of sacrifice and sense of duty. At the end of the mission, in the delicate and dangerous phases of the retreat of the Italian military disposal from the province of Dhi Qar, it showed high level of efficiency and operational readiness. A unit of the Army that, operating according values and tradition of the Bersaglieri Corps, it increased the prestige and the image of the Italian Armed Forces on an international context. Proud of the glorious traditions of its centenarian history, in a hard overseas campaign it showed its highest warrior virtues. In violent battles its Bersaglieri men opposed the enemy stopping its offensive in the area around Ocrida Lake. On 9th December 1940 it managed to face the enemy forces after a very violent battle on Mount Kalase. With impetuous it defeated the enemies catching prisoners, weapons and ammunitions and putting up the Flag of the Homeland on the bloody positions. It also defended them against any offensives, ensuring in that way the possession of that essential hinge for the deployment of our troops on the Italian-Greek front. After long months of violent battle on the Greek-Albanian front, the 1st Bersaglieri was ordered to defend the Alto Scutarino, threatened by the enemy. In seven days of battle it faced with valour the violent enemy attacks avoiding an attack against the Italian troops employed on the Greek frontiers. In the subsequent offensive phase, its Units crushed the enemy and overpassed the fortified barriers driving away the enemy in retreat and bringing the Italian Tricolor to Ragusa. Magnificent warrior Unit, with a tradition of heroism and glory, appeared in the first battles of the national Renaissance and affirmed during all the battles of the Italian Army. It gave its contribution of sacrifice and blood for the glory of the Corps. (Alto Scutarino, Bonzaj, Ragusa, 6th – 17th April 1941).

For the order to assault the enemy, it carried out the first attack defending the march of the "Aosta" Brigade, but also for the laudable conduct in the battle. A third of its soldiers was out of commission, but it contributed to the success of the action even if it was sent in the morning from Mount Rughi to Rivoltella and come back to S.Polo, Lonato and Desenzano – 24th June 1859 (to the 1st Battalion).

Rich of military honours for the conduct when Treviso and Venice were saved by the purest heroism (June 1918), in the moment of the revival (26th October 1918), it jumped over the Piave against the enemy positions, enlarging the bridgehead opened by the vanguard of the Division with subsequent attacks and courageous maneuvre. It resisted with heroic firmness and generous blood tribute against the continuous enemy counterattacks, worsen by the isolation over the river. Resumed the advance, it launched itself against new objectives, developing definitive maneuvres on Vittorio Veneto (Piave, June – October 1918). (To the 7th Battalion).
