The Taurinense Alpine troops engaged in the French Alps for the international exercise “Cerces 2022”.

International exercise “Cerces 2022” completed

The international exercise “Cerces 2022”, which saw the participation of a unit of the Taurinense Alpine Brigade, made up of personnel from the 2nd Alpine Regiment, the Nizza Cavalry Regiment (1st) and the 32nd Engineer Guastatori Regiment, which for a week practised movement and combat in the mountains together with the 27th Battalion of Chasseurs Alpins in Haute Savoie, has come to an end.

The exercise, organised annually by the French 27th Mountain Brigade, allowed the troops to consolidate their ability to conduct offensive, defensive and tactical activities in the high mountains with continuous rehearsals during the day and night, carried out at high altitude and in harsh climates.

The 2022 edition of Cerces saw the use for the first time of the armoured Centaur of the Nizza Cavalry, which in the Valloire firing range practised in synergy with the Alpine infantry, demonstrating their ability to operate effectively in a compartmentalised mountain environment.

"Cerces 2022" also provided an opportunity for a comparison on the procedures used within NATO, as well as an exchange of technical knowledge on the equipment, armaments and instruments used by the participating nations.
