In a strict collaboration with the great units of the Army, ready for the sacrifice and paying sometimes for bloody losses, it contributed to the positive result of difficult offensive actions and resistance actions thanks to its competence, courage and tenacity. Surrounded during a retreat, it rejected to surrender and managed to open a gap and join other troops in order to continue the resistance with great valour. Interpreter of the Engineer Army traditions, it participated in the "Ancient Babylon" Operation in Iraq as part of the Italian Joint Task Force succeeding in many of the activities assigned. In an operational context characterized by dangerous atmosphere, prohibitive environmental and climate conditions and opposition between the different factions in battle, the Regiment operated with an extraordinary spirit of sacrifice to ensure the success of the mission. With the best physical, moral and professional energies, the men and women of the Regiment carried out courageously very important intervention for the research and the recovery of mines and explosive disposals and permitted the reactivation of the essential structures, giving in that way security conditions in the province of Dhi Qar and reinforcing the reconstruction process of IRAQ. In particular, on 5th and 6th August 2004, the Regiment participated in the violent struggles in the city of Al-Nassiriyyah where it supported the maneuvre forces giving its contribution to the success of the operations. Great example of motivated Units that, thanks to its professionalism and the valour of its soldiers, it increased the prestige of Italy and of the Army on the international context. Employed in rescue operations for the population in Friuli hit by an earthquake, it promptly operated with a great sense of abnegation and it managed to save many people under the ruins. With high courage it operated in urban centres where collapses occurred. Later it had to provide the building of prefabs to host homeless people doing hard work in isolated areas and with adverse climate conditions and it managed to finish the program for the deadline.
