Unit with great valour, the 132nd "Ariete" Armoured Brigade is the Great Unit of the Armed Force equipped with the new Medium Combat Tank "C1 Ariete" (nationally produced).
Appeared since 1937, it is the first big armoured unit of the Army. It was destroyed during a battle in Northern Africa in 1942; it was then reconstituted on the national territory and it participated in the battles for the defence of Rome in 1943. It was dissolved again and reconstituted in 1948.
Formed by Volunteers, it is part of the Italian Forces available to the NATO Rapid Deployable Corps.
Deployed in Friuli Venezia Giulia and Lombardy, it is composed of a Command Unit, two tank regiments, a Bersaglieri regiment, an Artillery regiment, an Engineer regiment and a Logistics regiment.
