In Solbiate Olona a significant meeting took place with the diplomatic representative of Lithuania, a nation belonging to the Alliance since 2004 and a contributing member of NATO Rapid Deployable Corps in Italy.

Dialogue and cooperation in Solbiate Olona.

H.E. the Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania, Mr. Ricardas Slepavicius, accompanied by the Honorary Consul in Milan, Prof. Lucio Sarno, paid a visit to the operational headquarters of NATO Rapid Deployable Corps in Italy.

The event was an auspicious occasion to consider and discuss the current delicate geo-strategic situation, taking into account the significant presence of the Alliance in Baltic Republics since 2017, in the eFP (enhanced Forward Presence). The eFP mission - shared by Italy - demonstrates NATO's ability and determination to provide a solid response to external threats along the Alliance's eastern border.

The meeting with Lieutenant General Miglietta, NRDC-ITA Commander, was a valuable opportunity to strengthen ties with a nation that has always supported the activities conducted by NATO Command in Milan in the recent past and during the COVID-19 emergency. Moreover, during this challenging period, the synergic effort of the different national contingents of the Rapid Deployable Corps was decisive, confirming the fundamental importance of the multinational aspect and underlining the cohesion that has always characterized the spirit of NRDC-ITA community. This aspect is especially relevant in 2021 due to the 20th Foundation anniversary of NATO Command.

Maintaining constructive and stable relations with international institutions is an important task for NRDC-ITA, as it supports defence and collective security. The NATO HQ is ready and able to support the policies of the Alliance, with the objectives of facing crises and promoting international stability.
