The Italian TAAC-W contingent donates computer equipment, technical and office materials to the Department for Women's Affairs of Herat.

​The Italian "Resolute Support" contingent, currently led by 132nd "Ariete" Armoured Brigade, donated computer equipment, technical and office materials to Herat's Department for Women's Affairs (DoWA) in order to facilitate the institutional activities.

The delivery took place in recent days at Camp Arena, at the presence of some representatives of the DoWA, including the director, Anisa Sarwari, and the Commander of the TAAC-W, Brigadier General Enrico Barduani.

The activity, organized and conducted by TAAC-W civil and military Cooperation staff, is part of different assistance projects promoted by the contingent in support for Afghan institutions and civil society. The donation, in favor of the DoWA of Herat, is part of the activities in support of the role of women in Afghan society, for which social and professional affirmation still face considerable difficulties.

Brigadier General Barduani, as a premise of the delivery, underlined the importance of the work carried out by the DoWA for the improvement of the female condition in Afghan society. He expressed admiration for the commitment made by the Department in different and important projects, with the woman at the center, promoted by the institute in the province of Herat.

"Through this small contribution that will facilitate the performance of your demanding tasks - said the Commander of the TAAC W - the Italian contingent wants to further demonstrate the closeness and support to the Afghan population". The DoWA director, Anisa Sarwari, reminded how the Italian contingent has constantly supported the role of Afghan women in recent years, with numerous projects. She thanked for the precious donation, expressing gratitude for the support and assistance that the Forces Italian Armed Forces provide to the Institutions in their country. Support of the population, with a special attention to the most vulnerable sections of society, is an important activity which alongside the main training, consultancy and assistance to the Afghan Security Forces, conducted by Italian advisors, to increase functionality and self-sustaining capacity.

TAAC-W, the Italian-led NATO command, in which men and women of the Italian Army, Air Force, Navy and Carabinieri operate, is responsible for the "Resolut Support" operation of the western part of Afghanistan, which includes the provinces of Herat, Badghis, Farah and Ghor, with a territorial extension equal to the whole of Northern Italy and a population of about four million inhabitants. It is composed of soldiers who come from eight nations (Albania, Hungary, Lithuania, Romania, Slovenia, Ukraine, United States of America, as well as Italy) who operate with the aim of contributing to training, assistance and advice in favor of Afghan Institutions and security forces, engaged in creating adequate conditions of security and prosperity for the local population.
