Lieutenant General Salvatore Farina gets a visit from General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Chief of Staff of the Pakistani Army.
“Cooperation between Italian and Pakistani Army”
The official visit in Italy of General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Chief of Staff of the Pakistani Army, began today with an official meeting with Lieutenant General Salvatore Farina, Chief of Staff of the Army.
The meeting was an occasion to emphasize the relevance of cooperative relations between the two armies, which is based on a multiannual and effective partnership, in the field of training, formation and equipment.
During the visit, General Farina addressed several issues, including the process of transformation under way in the Army, the main operational and training activities, the upgrading programs, and focusing on the primary resource of the Armed Force: the personnel.
At the end of the event, the Chief of Staff thanked the Pakistani General for the great efforts of his Army for the work of stabilization in Central Asia, where several units of the Army operate. In particular, for the work of Pakistani Army Aviation units during the dangerous rescue operation of the body of Corporal Maurizio Giordano, dead during a climbing expedition at Gasherbrum IV.
The two Generals reiterated the common will to intensify initiatives aimed at enhancing of bilateral cooperation between the two Armed Forces and improving their interoperability in the area of formation and training.
General Qamar Javed Bajwa expressed warm appreciation for the visit and active cooperation going on between the two Armed Forces.
