A meeting (shura) between the high authorities of the Afghan central government in the province of Herat and the high commands of the RS mission has taken place in Camp Arena, the headquarters of the Train Advise Assist Command West (TAACW) that is the NATO multinational and joint forces Command with Italian leadership operating in the western region of Afghanistan.
The summit has focused on topics related to the security and the leadership, in order to implement the collaborations between the central and local afghan authorities and the NATO mission.
The Afghan Ministers of Defence and of the Interior, the Ambassador of Italy in Kabul Roberto Cantone, along with civil and military authorities of the province of Herat have participated in the shura, officiated by the Commander of the Resolute Support General Nicholson.
Since the recent assignment of the TAAC-W, led by the "Taurinense" Alpine Brigade and represented by Brigadier General Massimo Biagini during the shura, it has been the first appointment in Afghanistan anticipating the advice and assist activities that will be carry out by the advisor team of the Army in favour of the Afghan National Army (ANA).
The Italian mission in Afghanistan, according to the Resolute Support, aims to make the local Security Forces independent in the professional development of its personnel, but also to train the trainers and the specialists in the different field of employment.
