One day in favor of LAF Fallen orphans

An initiative, dedicated to the association “Martyr Lieutenant Colonel Sobhi Akouri”, took place in recent days at UNIFIL Sector West HQ, Italian guided and based on “Folgore” Paratroopers Brigade. 

The event, that represented an occasion to show the sympathy and affection of UNIFIL soldiers to Lebanese population, involved 50 wives of Lebanese Armed Forces Fallen, which, with a large representation of female personnel from different international contingents deployed in Lebanon, had the opportunity to try practical activities, such as MCM lessons, first aid and Italian cuisine. Everything under the guide of national contingent trainers.

The association “Martyr Lieutenant Colonel Sobhi Akouri” is a no-profit organization supported by Lebanese Armed Forces, entitled to a Lebanese Special Forces Officer dead in 2007 during Nahr El Bahred battle and founded by his widow Lea in 2008, with the aim of helping the orphans of Lebanese soldiers and organizing charity events and leisure activities for children.

Since 18 October 2017, UNIFIL Sector West Command, with more than 4000 peacekeepers from 12 different Nations, is under the leading of Brigade General (Army) Rodolfo Sganga.

Italian Armed Forces contribute to UNIFIL mission with about 1100 soldiers, mainly based on “Folgore” Paratroopers Brigade.
